This is a photograph of the more complete of the two
ruined towers of Hadleigh Castle, Essex, taken one fine wintry morning. I
had to wait for quite some time for the sun to climb to the right position
for this photograph. Exposing for detail in the sky has produced a
dramatic effect in keeping with the dark history of the tower, emphasising
the sun flooding through the ruined window. The wall of the tower facing
the camera has been riven from summit to base, making this picture
possible.
The photograph is very detailed - much, much more so than the scan which
is a very poor copy because of the small file size involved in webpage
creation.
